I have fourteen years of experience doing psychotherapy. I was in group private practice for four years. I am now in solo private practice. I have experience in individual, couples, family, group, and play therapy. I have worked in various inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings, including in two hospitals (private general and psychiatric) and two university counseling centers. I have taught undergraduate students. I have supervised the individual and group psychotherapy work of nationally selected doctoral interns at the University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center. I have formally trained doctoral level interns on intake and psychological assessment. I served for several years as the Eating Disorder Coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center, working in collaboration with the University Health Service. I am certified in EMDR. I have published and presented (for both CE and non-CE credit) on therapy and various psychological issues to university physicians and nurses, psychology interns, medical residents, school districts, Duquesne University PhD students, Carlow University PsyD students, and fellow colleagues in the US, Sweden, and Canada.
I hold the following qualifications: I have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Duquesne University, whose program was approved by the American Psychological Association (APA); I completed an APA accredited internship in clinical psychology at St. Francis Medical Center and a post doctoral fellowship at Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center, which is affiliated with Washington University in St. Louis. I am licensed as a psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania. I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA), and Greater Pittsburgh Psychological (GPPA).
My approach is integrative, based on an existential-phenomenological orientation and informed by psychodynamic thought, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, and the information processing model of EMDR.
I am a married Indian woman and native Pittsburgher. If I am not at the office, you might see me cheering the Steelers or soaking in the arts and culture of Pittsburgh!
